Mindsurf Networks Launches New Web Gateway for Students, Teachers, and School Administrators
The Mindsurf Networks Solution Gets Underway as Essential Learning Tools and Educational Materials are Showcased

BALTIMORE - February 15, 2001 - Mindsurf Networks, a leader in K-12 wireless computing, today announced the launch of its new Web Gateway. This gateway, available for both the desktop PC and wireless handheld computer, contains a Web Guide with best-of-the-Web learning resources for teachers and students, along with a Teaching Exchange of materials for teachers and administrators. Through the Web Gateway, students and teachers are able to instantly access an array of curriculum resources and tools for collaboration, both of which provide immediate instructional benefit and value.

The student section of the gateway includes a host of subject-based Web links to aid students in completing homework, working on projects, and helping with everyday student tasks. Tools include an online reference desk of dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauruses, and even a college planner, as well as a search mechanism for filtered Internet searches. Students are able to be more in tune with their studies and more hands-on with their learning approach.

Provided for teachers is the Mindsurf Networks Teaching Exchange, complete with a set of model lesson plans and teaching methods to support teachers as they discover new ways to integrate the handheld computer into typical classroom activities. This is a place where teachers can prepare for class, improve on teaching skills, and look for ways to inspire their students using their handheld computers. Teachers can also contribute their own ideas to the site and share their wireless strategies with their peers inside the Mindsurf Networks community.

Additional online resources include a company background showcasing the team of educational and technological experts behind Mindsurf Networks, sections outlining Mindsurf Networks' Products and Services and Value to Schools, and headlines about the new Schools of Innovation Program. School Administrators can also find out how their schools can become Mindsurf Achievement Partners and be a part of the Mindsurf Networks unique community of schools that are being developed and implemented nationwide.

"Our Web Gateway places quality academic resources in the hands of teachers and students when and where they need it most," said John Bell, Vice President of Product Design. "Students and teachers need computing solutions that respect how they spend their time. By being able to access relevant content and services via both handheld and desktop computers, our solution makes that possible."
